How it works
From a photo of your shopto a sign that's yours.
The LED Sign & Print handles the whole job: we look at your shopfront, design the sign, build it in our Bournemouth workshop and install it. Once it's paid for, it belongs to you.
Five steps
One team,from sketch to switch-on.
- 01
We look at your shopfront
Start with a photo, or ask us to come and see the space: the wall, the width, where the power is and what people walking past should notice first.
- 02
We design the sign
You see the design and the message before anything is made, and we adjust it until it is right for your business.
- 03
We build it in our workshop
We make the sign ourselves, in our own unit on Francis Avenue in Bournemouth (BH11).
- 04
We install it
We fit the sign on your shopfront and switch it on, so you see it working before we leave.
- 05
It is yours to keep
Once it is paid for, the sign belongs to you. No rental, no subscription. For message signs, we show you how to change what it says.
Ownership
Yours to keep.No rental. No subscription.
When the sign is paid for and installed, it belongs to you. We don't rent signs out and we don't charge a monthly fee to use them.
Some signs are rented or paid for month by month. Ours aren't. You pay for the sign, we install it, and it's yours. The only running cost is the electricity it uses, which comes through your normal bill. For message signs, we show you how to change the message at handover, so you don't need to call us every time you want it to say something new.
Council permission
Do I need consentfor an LED sign?
Sometimes. It depends on the type of sign, where it goes and whether your shop is in a conservation area.
In England, signs are controlled by the advertisement regulations. Many illuminated signs on business premises are allowed without applying (called "deemed consent"), but only within set limits. Under the GOV.UK guide for advertisers, an illuminated sign allowed this way:
- must not have any intermittent light source, moving feature or animation;
- must be at least 2.5 metres high at its lowest point;
- if it is a fascia panel, must not stand out more than 0.25 metres from the wall;
- does not apply to premises in a conservation area.
That means a scrolling or flashing LED sign on the outside of a building usually needs express consent from the local council, and so does an illuminated sign in a conservation area. Signs inside the shop are treated under different rules. We'll talk through your situation before anything is made; the decision itself rests with the council.

Questions
Everything else,answered.
Can I change the message on the sign myself?
Yes. Our programmable LED message signs are made so you can change what they say whenever you like: today's offer, opening hours, a new price. We go through how to change it with you when the sign is handed over.
Is there a monthly fee or subscription?
No. Once the sign is paid for and installed, it is yours to keep. We don't rent signs out and we don't charge a subscription to use them. Like any electrical sign, it uses electricity, which you pay through your normal bill.
What sizes and colours can you make?
We make LED signs in any size and any colour, from a board that hangs inside your window to a full-width fascia. Tell us the space you have and what you want people to see, and we'll design around it.
Do you make the signs yourselves?
Yes. We design the sign, build it in our own workshop at Unit 2a, 11-15 Francis Avenue, Bournemouth BH11 8NX, and install it ourselves. You deal with one team from the first sketch to the moment it switches on.
How much does an LED sign cost?
It depends on the size, the type of sign, how it is fixed, access to the wall and the electrics. The quickest way to an honest figure is to send us a photo of your shopfront on WhatsApp with a rough idea of what you want.
Do I need permission from the council for an LED sign?
Sometimes. In England, many illuminated shop signs are allowed without applying, but that allowance does not cover signs with an intermittent light source, moving feature or animation, and it does not apply in conservation areas. A scrolling or flashing sign on the outside of a building will therefore usually need advertisement consent from the local council. We'll talk it through with you before anything is made; the decision itself rests with the council.
Do you do printing as well as signs?
Yes. We print flyers, leaflets, business cards, brochures, roller banners, posters and wallpaper, so your sign and your printed material can match.
